9. Oily skin holds perfume scents longer than dry skin. So, before applying perfume, rub a very thin layer of Vaseline or petroleum jelly on your skin and you will smell delicious for hours.
10. Your nail polish will always be smooth and easy to apply if you store it in the refrigerator. Frosted nail polish will not separate; however, if it has hardened or is gummy, place the bottle in a pan of boiling water. The polish will be like new.

Heart Arrhythmia

Our heart is one of the most important organs in our body, and it’s important to make sure it is healthy. Regular visits with your family doctor will give you peace of mind.

Unbeknownst to most, inside all of us, resides a killer.  This killer has the stealth and cunning, far superior, than any militarily trained sniper.  This killer has a name…

This destroyer of life is called; an “irregular” heart beat.  Our heart is a mass muscle, which directs our blood flow, driven by electrical impulses to sustain our life.  Our sinus node is the mechanism which gives our heart, its natural rhythm.  When the sinus node malfunctions, an abnormal electrical impulse develops.

A person may become dizzy, feel lightheaded, quiver, have shortness of breath, chest discomfort, heart flutters or pounding, and even painful extra beats. Some people may have no symptoms at all. Thus the name arrhythmia arises, (without rhythm), a serious heart condition, up to and including death, if left undiagnosed and untreated.  There are many treatments for these conditions.

There are two major types of arrhythmias.  When the heart beats too quickly; over 100 beats per minute, it is Tachycardia.  When the heart beats too slowly: less than 60 beats per minute, it is Bradycardia.  Other common arrhythmias include A-Fid, or Atrial Fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), and Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome- delayed muscle reaction to the impulse and buildup of additional muscle pathways in the heart muscle.

I am not a physician, but I do have an arrhythmia.  I was born healthy and was athletic growing up, joined the Military and it was never detected.  It wasn’t until my mid-thirties, while employed by United Postal Service, that I went for a mandatory management physical.  It was discovered and deemed mild, nothing to be alarmed about, but I was now self-aware of my condition.

     I urge everyone to get a simple checkup, our love ones deserve to have the best of us; let a physician “take out, the sniper, from within”. May you all live a long life.

Zendaya Coleman

Zendaya (born Zendaya Coleman; September 1, 1996) is an American actress, singer, and dancer. She has been acting since age six and is best known for her role as the aspiring young dancer Raquel “Rocky” Blue on the Disney Channel original series Shake It Up! Zendaya who’s name which means “to give thanks” in Shona, was born Zendaya Coleman to Claire Stoermer and Kazembe Ajamu (Coleman) on September 1st, 1996, in Oakland, California. She grew up as part of the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, California where her mother worked as the House Manager. In addition to training at the theater’s student conservatory program, and later performing in numerous stage productions, Zendaya helped her mother seat patrons and sell raffle tickets to benefit the theater. While attending the Oakland School for the Arts, she starred as a young Ti Moune in Once on This Island at the Berkley Playhouse and in the breakout role of the male character Joe in Caroline, or Change at Palo Alto’s TheaterWorks. She also studied her craft at the CalShakes Conservatory program and at the American Conservatory Theater. Her other stage credits include Richard III, Twelfth Night, and As You Like It, among others. Zendaya began her professional career working as a fashion model for Macy’s, Mervyns and Old Navy. She was also featured in a iCarly toys ad along with Stefanie Scott. She also starred in the book trailer for “From Bad To Cursed” by Katie Alender. And in early 2011, it was announced that her first movie would be in the 2012 film, “Frenemies” alongside “Shake It Up!” co-star, Bella Thorne and Stefanie Scott from A.N.T. Farm. Zendaya currently lives in Los Angeles with her family and dog, a Giant Schnauzer named Midnight. Her interests include singing, dancing and designing clothes. The jungle has moved on to the fashion runways

Animal prints appear to never go out of style… Leopard dots have been the most seen prints on the catwalks, from overcoats, dresses and footwear. Not only the leopard print but also the giraffe and tiger prints are the style for fall/winter 2011; leopard print can be seen everywhere and on anything, in different colors, even on red, purple hot pink and turquoise.

The following tips will give you an idea on how to wear the animal print and how to match it in order to wear such print with self-confidence and elegance.

1.  If you decide to go for a total leopard print look, stay away from an excess use of accessories, such as bracelets, necklaces or rings. Never wear printed accessories when wearing clothes in busy prints or patterns.

2. When wearing a leopard print, you need to remember to balance things out. If you’re wearing a leopard print top, pair it with a neutral pant or skirt and if you are wearing a printed pant, wear a plain top. Don’t wear head to toe prints ever; unless it’s a one piece outfit.

3. Take a look at your body type. If you’re bottom heavy, a printed top and black pants that will give you the illusion of being slimmer; it would look fantastic. If you’re top heavy, wear a black top and a stunning printed skirt, and of course you can’t forget a pair of black heels to finish the look. Wear only one print piece at a time.

Another fun way to dress up your look is by selecting printed or pattern shoes styles. When wearing “busy patterned” shoes, wear a basic black dress or jeans and a basic top. This will draw attention to those amazing shoes and will balance out the look.

We are proud to present to you, Elizabeth Marie Salinas, a 19 year old from McAllen, Texas. She is the STFC Model of the year. We asked her how she felt being an official STFC girl, and she replied,” Good!  Excited for the future, I know that this opportunity will open other doors for me in the future.”  The aspect she enjoys most about being a part of STFC is being present, watching the crowd and being drawn into the excited atmosphere of the fights. This has been her most enjoyable modeling promo job. Elizabeth is a huge MMA fan, her favorite is George St-Pierre (GSP). She also, is currently working in The Ice House, located on Austin St. downtown Mcallen,Tx.

Elizabeth counts with 4 years of experience in the Modeling Profession. She maintains her body by working out Monday through Sunday 2 hours a day.  Gold’s Gym is the facility where she loves to burn her calories doing cardio; she has no rules in her diet, she eats everything and enjoys dinning at Texas Road House and Pappadeaux.

Elizabeth Marie is currently attending STCC and majoring in Physical Therapy and Kinesiology. The most important aspects of her life, is her family, God and finishing up her studies. If she could change something, that would be to be more humble.

Elizabeth has one important rule in life, and that is to never trust everybody, she says, “sometimes you just don’t know who that person really is, so you have to play it safe.”

She has no regrets in life as of now, she lives the way she likes and she is happy with that.

Her biggest phobia are spiders and roaches, she says, “they scare me to death…lol.”

There is one special four legged creature, that makes her smile, and that is her Micro/ Mini Pot- Belly Pig, whose name is, Versace Gucci, whom she loves dearly.

Going back memory lane, she says that the best time of her life was sharing a trip with her family to Disneyworld and that was priceless! Elizabeth also loves to travel and she dreams of visiting Italy and Paris. She says, “They are such great adventurous places, with huge stories behind them.”

She is inspired by Adrianna Lima, a great Victoria Secret Model. Since Elizabeth was 5 years old, she has known that she wanted to be a model. With a smile, she says,” I would be posing and wearing the heels…so since early childhood, a career in modeling is something I have wanted to pursue, and I thank God that He gave me the opportunity to do it.”

Elizabeth idea of living a good life is having a good education, having a supportive family by her side and of course being happy with her surroundings.
